The Mogul and the Muscle

by Claire Kingsley

Cameron is the CEO of an aeronautics company that she single-handedly brought up to speed. But someone is trying to get her out of the picture. Luckily, her friends hire Jude to be her own personal security. Can he figure out the culprit before it’s too late? Let’s find out!

Read if you like: contemporary romance, dual POV, slow burn, ‘I don’t need anyone’ trope, billionaire boss babes, retired CIA agents, a bit of suspense, and spicy sweet romance.

Cameron has her life all figured out. Sure, she’s a workaholic and perfectionist, but it’s gotten her this far. Except it seems like she’s made someone mad with her hard labored rise to power. When things start to get personal, and dangerous, her billionaire besties call in a favor with a friend and security expert, Jude.

Jude is trying to retire and live a simple life, but he’ll do one last job as a favor to his friends. When he arrives, he realizes that the hardest part of this job will be convincing his new client that she needs help. And it soon becomes clear that the threat to her life is serious.

This book was sweet and cute. I love being back in Bluewater with the billionaire boss babes. Cameron and Jude are the perfect pair that help balance out each other while remaining independently successful. Their tension and respect for each other is delectable along with their banter. I wish we had a little more development with their relationship sooner in the book. They danced around each other for a long time before even imagining that the other person would be interested. I wanted to shake them with love.

The thriller part was done really well. There were enough possibilities to make you wonder who might be involved and surprises when you get the full reveal. The book hit all the right notes and was a fun ride. I just wanted a little faster pace to the start. Yet overall, the book felt like it was trying to be more spicy and edgy than it was. Its like the cute, good girl trying to get a Sandy makeover circa Grease, but you can still see that sweater set under the leather jacket. A solid 3.5-4 stars of fun and spicy escapism.
