The Christmas Fix

by Lucy Score

A flood, a TV renovation star, and a grumpy City Manager all work together to turn a disaster into a Christmas miracle… and maybe a little bit of romance. What will happen when these rivals have to work together to make the magic happen? Let’s find out!

Read if you like: Contemporary romance, dual POV, home renovations, Christmas related stories, small town romance, ‘Hallmark’ with spice, rivals to lovers, a full cast of hilarious characters, straightlaced single dads, sassy and capable leading ladies, nerdy but sexy, ‘I know something you don’t’, and an amazing story of how a town can function as a family, and help two stubborn idiots fall in love. NOTE: The audiobook is fantastic.

When a natural disaster hits Merry, Connecticut it’s up to City Manager Noah to try and break the news that his Christmas town won’t be able to have their annual festival. Enter TV star Catalina King who wants to help the town and her network save Christmas in a project that makes everyone happy… everyone but Noah. Sparks fly as these two make a lot of assumptions and sparks fly. Add in a secret (and a couple of secret projects) and you have the perfect recipe for the spicy, hilarious, and heartwarming small town Christmas story of your dreams.

I have a secret. Christmas wears me out. It’s mostly because of my job. But I don’t usually get into the Christmas spirit until the last minute, if ever at all. But this year I decided to see if Lucy Score could help me with my Christmas woes. And did she deliver? 1000%! I devoured this Kindle/audiobook combo narrated by Natalie Duke. She brought this story to life with the BEST audio performance I’ve ever heard. Period. It had all the things I wish other narrations had. If the character gritted their teeth or gasped or cleared their throat or WHATEVER…. She did it! It was flawless and seamless when she narrated the male POV.

Now let’s dig into the book. I love the characters. Yeah, Cat and Noah are what you think from the description but also so much more. I love when a character fills the shoes you expect while also exceeding expectations; and, their interplay at understanding each other is fantastic. They are fiery and neither one wants to give up an inch of ground but everyone sees it coming but them.

We also have a full cast of townspeople and crewmembers who keep the story interesting and our MCs on their toes. You get all those fun renovation show feels on a holiday sized scale with all the romantic payoff. If you’ve ever watched a Hallmark Christmas movie and wished you had more… The Christmas Fix delivers. Also, the book covers several months leading up until Christmas, so even though Christmas is the goal, you are not overly inundated with Christmas the whole book making a great anytime read in my opinion.
