Dagger Snake: Deception

A Kingdom of Blood and Betrayal

by Holly Renee

Adara’s life was has never been her own but now she has bonds between two princes. Princes who have lied and used her for her power. How can she choose either when escape seems impossible. But the dark prince draws her in and she’s finding it hard to resist. Will she find the truth behind her power? Let’s find out!

Read if you like: fantasy romance, high fantasy, fast-paced reads, plot driven, spicy spice, fae, vampires, the chosen one, betrothal, in love with the wrong boy, change your fate, prophecies, magic, a mouthy bad boy with lots of secrets, and a girl thrust into a dangerous world armed with lies and a dagger.

Adara was thrust into a world she barely understood. A pawn in a struggle to maintain power in a war between the fae, vampires, and humans. As the truth is slowly revealed she is left feeling betrayed and alone. But without knowledge of this realm, she has no option of escape. How can she between a shining prince with cruelty in his blood or his dark brother with passion lurking under the shadows he carries? She must choose before the choice is forced… but first she must find the truth.

We’re back with Dagger Snake Deception… and we actually get to see what the dagger snake means… squee! A Kingdom of Blood and Betrayal delivers on its name. Adara learned a whole lot of truths in the most painful way possible and now she no longer trusts her few allies. But you know what that means… tension. Lots of glorious tension and more of that talking we love with Evren. We have more of what we love from book one. A fast-paced fantasy romance with lots of spice. An action driven plot that does not dawdle with details. I would still gladly read lots more pages of character development, but the story still stands without it.

I was glad for Adara to get some time and space to find her own footing without an incredibly hot prince watching her every move. It meant we got to fill out the world and meet side characters that provide background and scope. Of course, we get more Evren and that mouth. Adara takes her slow time admitting what everyone reading knows, but the ride is worth it and I can NOT wait until we get book 3, A Kingdom of Venom and Vows.
