As someone who doesn’t read contemporary often and almost never reads anything considered a thriller… you might ask why I’m reading this book. Well, we all should try new things, right? Also, I’m running out of Jennifer L. Armentrout books… and I need a fix. So, will this serial killer-meets-romance story leave me with thrills or chills? Let’s find out.
We find our leading lady in a state of panic as she decides to move home to help mom with the family business. It’s been 10 years since Sasha left home after being the only surviving victim of a local serial killer. She’s unsure how her life will unfold as she encounters once familiar surroundings now tainted with the trauma of the past. And what’s more, her old flame Cole, shows up before she has time to second guess her big move and she’s plagued with more questions than ever. If that’s not enough, she quickly realizes that the past isn’t her biggest problem. A missing woman and one too many coincidences make her wonder if she will ever truly escape life as a victim.
I enjoyed Till Death. It was definitely a good deviation from my normal TBR. Sasha is a great character and JLA is great a writing sassy leads who are flawed but find their strength through growth and support. Cole is super sweet and spicy. I did want a bit more romance, but I’m greedy like that. And I loved the mature characters. Being that I don’t read thrillers I thought it was a good balance between romance and suspense. However, as with every suspense plot I’ve ever read, (Yes, all 3.) I had it pretty much figured out from the beginning. Maybe it’s the curse of the psych major. It didn’t make it any less enjoyable for me. I still love getting all the character development and seeing how all the pieces fall into place.
Overall, Till Death is a great, quick read if you want thrills, chills, and a sweet guy with an even sweeter romance all with a message that life is often what you make of it.
Trigger warnings: violence, murder, rape, sexual assault, stalking.
