After my first read from Lucy Score rocked my socks off, I couldn’t begin reading this ARC fast enough. Will this home-reno romance make my dreams come true? Let’s find out!
Read if you like: fun, real stories; home/live renovation; found family; historical mystery; reconciling the past; chasing dreams; finding the meaning of home; overly confident, yet sensitive leading man; and a leading lady whose plan is her life, and she needs to get a new life.
Maggie Nichols has a successful YouTube channel where she flips houses and finds heartwarming stories all to help someone else’s dream home come true. And she always moves on. Always. Her new project is her biggest yet, and holds a special connection to her past. That surely won’t complicate things. Especially not when her potential landscaper shows up and is as dreamy as his designs.
Silas Morgan is confident, sensitive, and carries that ‘old west’ chivalry into the current age. He’s just shown up at the biggest potential job of his life. One that could mean great things for him and the town that’s recently fallen on hardship. What he doesn’t expect is to be knocked off his feet by his dream woman. As soon as he lays eyes on Maggie, he knows that he’ll do anything to win the landscaping bid… and her heart.
Our duo is in for a very big surprise when they start digging into the story of their build. The local legends have a lot to say about the town and the big house on the hill.
I found this book to be absolutely wonderful. With Maggie Moves On, Lucy Score, again, emersed me into a setting. I love the small town feel and the cohesive friend and family group that is built around the two main characters. It makes everything about the story feel so much more alive and connected.
Maggie is the proverbial workaholic trying to make a future better than her past. She loves helping others but is shortsighted about her own happiness. Silas is that guy that’s genuinely nice and good at everything. His blended family works hard to make sure everyone is cared for, but he often forgets that not everyone’s wants line up with his own. Together they take one hot mess of a house and their found family and cobble them together into a life bustling with reno projects and love.
As if that wasn’t enough to make a great story, we also get a bit of mystery. There’s the legend of missing gold – stolen via stagecoach robbery. The old house has an important history, too. The notable owners left their fortune in a trust for the town. When discoveries are made in the house, we realize that there might be a lot more hidden than gold. Pack this all up with hilarious banter and YouTube comments and you have a story that reaches back into history and propels us into the future. All in search of a dream.
A fast favorite, Maggie Moves On is scheduled to be published on June 21, 2022.
